What the Dashboard Tracks
The Area Dashboard is filled in monthly by the Area Director and reviewed with the committee. It covers three broad areas corresponding to Young Life’s Five Core Functions:
🟢 Direct Ministry
- Number of schools in the area
- Number of clubs running
- Average club attendance
- Average Campaigners attendance
- Winter Camp total & % now in Campaigners
- Summer Camp deposits & % now in Campaigners
🔵 Leadership Development
- Total number of volunteer leaders
- Leaders committed to attending camp
- Matthew 9:38 list size
- Recruiting focus (rotating monthly)
- Potential leaders met with this month
- Leader additions & attrition
🟡 Resource Development
- Current committee size
- Potential committee members met with
- Committee additions & attrition
- Number of donor meetings this month
- Financial commitments from donor meetings
- Current monthly giving, YTD cash balance, projected year-end
The Rotating Recruiting Focus
One column the dashboard tracks each month is the Recruiting Focus — the category of people the area is prioritizing for volunteer leader outreach that month. The template cycles through:
- Parents — parents of current or past students
- Alumni — former Young Life kids now in their 20s–30s
- Teachers — educators at area schools
- Current Leader Networking — warm referrals from existing leaders
- Community Marketing — broader community outreach and visibility
- Committee Networking — warm referrals through committee relationships
This rotating focus ensures the area builds a diverse, sustainable pipeline of volunteer leaders rather than over-relying on any single source.
How to Use This Template
Click Open & Copy Template above to open the spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Then:
- Select File → Make a copy to create your own editable version
- Rename it with your area name (e.g. “Northside YL Area Dashboard”)
- Update the numbers monthly — ideally in conversation with your Area Director
- Share the link with your Area Director so they can view and discuss trends with you
- Bring a printed or screen-shared version to your monthly committee meetings to review together
The dashboard is most valuable as a trend tool. A single month’s numbers matter less than the direction of movement over time — use it to celebrate growth and identify where the area needs strategic attention.
