Overview
Core Ministry Impact is Young Life’s practice of real-time measurement that allows us to gain insight into the core health of a ministry, empowering staff and volunteers to understand, celebrate, and focus on the important work of reaching and teaching more adolescents.
Core Ministry Counts is a tool within CMI that moves us from estimating twice a year to counting students involved in our ministries in real time.
Core Ministry Reports are a visual and numeric representation of the Core Ministry Counts.
What Gets Counted
Every area director (or whoever is acting in an area director capacity) gathers and reports the following for every ministry in their area:
- Number of kids known by name each month
- Number of students and leaders at club each week (or as it occurs)
- Number of students and leaders at Campaigners each week (or as it occurs)
Why It Matters
By measuring real-time ministry, as a region we can better:
- Celebrate what the Lord is doing in your area
- Connect with leaders, committee, and peers to build ministry and personal development plans
- Challenge ourselves by identifying areas for growth and change
… all with the goal of reaching more young people for Christ. When we measure our impact, we have the data we need to better tell our stories to volunteer leaders, committee, donors, and supervisors.
How It Works
Core Ministry Counts is built into YL Connect, allowing area staff to record ministry numbers and view reports. Area staff partner with leaders to set goals and make plans to count ministry activity, then enter numbers into YL Connect starting mid-September. The regional team reviews numbers with area staff and connects on goals and growth opportunities.
