What Is the KNOWN Campaign?
The KNOWN Campaign is built around one of Young Life’s most powerful convictions: that every adolescent deserves to be known by name by a caring adult. It serves as both a national fundraising initiative and a community awareness campaign that invites donors and supporters into the heart of what Young Life does every day — going where kids are and building real relationships.
How It’s Used Locally
As Committee Chair, you may be involved in championing the KNOWN Campaign in your local area. Common ways committees engage with it include:
- Sharing KNOWN stories and content with your donor list as a touchpoint throughout the year
- Using the campaign’s language and visuals in local fundraising events and appeals
- Recruiting storytellers — kids, leaders, or parents — to share their “KNOWN” story at your banquet or other events
- Directing new donors to the site as an introduction to what Young Life is about
- Mobilizing your committee to share the campaign with their own networks
Why It Matters for Resource Development
The KNOWN Campaign gives your committee a ready-made, emotionally resonant story to share with donors at any time of year — not just during a fundraising ask. It anchors every conversation about money in the mission of reaching kids, which is exactly what the Relationship Centered Engagement philosophy calls for.
