Overview
The donor care team's job is to ensure the area's donors are regularly thanked and cared for. They assist Young Life staff with formulating strategy to say thank you, communicate the vision and mission to donors and the community, serve as ambassadors to donors and youth within the community, and are attentive to donors' spiritual needs.
Job Description
- Call donors who have sent in donations to say thank you; seek help from other committee members during busier banquet seasons.
- Assist staff with writing thank you letters for monthly donations.
- Work with the area director to determine who will be the primary contact for specific donors; get to know assigned donors and “earn the right to be heard.”
- Assist the area director with touch points throughout the year: invitations to club, phone calls with ministry updates, prayer encouragement, personal handwritten notes, and creative gifts to top donors.
- Serve as a host, greeter, and face of Young Life at banquets and events.
Basic Strategies to Develop
Key strategies to develop:
- A thank you calendar for the entire year.
- A written process for when the financial month closes to identify lapsed donors and determine how each donor will be thanked.
- Work closely with the data manager to ensure tracking and giving reports for donors are created.
- Have a plan to include staff, committee, and kids in several thank yous throughout the year.
- Keep a file of all communications with donors.
Qualifications
- Attend a TDS (Taking Donors Seriously) training in your region if offered.
